The Butterfly Pavilion’s Wings of the Tropics exhibit lets you walk in a rainforest surrounded by free-flying butterflies from around the globe - but it takes a lot of amazing work to make it possible! Go behind the scenes to learn how the butterflies are sourced, shipped from distant lands, and cared for before and after they hatch from their chrysalises.

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s Vertebrate Zoology Collection. They will open climate-controlled cabinets and drawers in the collections space to show us bird and mammal skeletons, skulls, and skins.

Two full scholarships for attending Audubon’s Coastal Maine Bird Studies for Teens at Hog Island from June 16-21, 2024 are now accepting applications.

Observe and photograph wild ducks and other water birds. International wildlife photographer John Weller will join us to offer pro tips on photography.

We will walk around Doudy Draw and Eldorado Mountain counting all the birds we can see or hear.

We'll count and map perching and flying eagles, harriers, and hawks. Information from this and future surveys will contribute to raptor habitat protection within the Boulder Creek floodplain.

PLEASE NOTE: This trip is full, including the waitlist. We will visit Denver Zoo, with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Bird Propagation Center, where rare and critically endangered birds are being reared for preservation of the species.
