Nature at Night! All Ages Family Program

Limit 20, RSVP to trip leader to reserve your spot after 6:00 pm on Monday June 19. Early registration is not accepted.

Trip Leader: Dave Sutherland, dsutherland4747@gmail.com https://www.davesutherland.co/

Participants must follow CDC and State of Colorado and Boulder County Public Health guidelines on the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants must also follow individual field trip leader requirements, such as fully vaccinated status to register and/or wearing masks when in close proximity. And, PLEASE stay home if you are feeling unwell.

As a nearly full moon shines down on the land, naturalist Dave Sutherland will lead you into the mysterious world of nocturnal animals. Explore your senses in the darkness: listen like a bat, smell like a moth, feel with your whiskers and learn to see by moonlight. Imagine if you were a nocturnal animal, and find out why the dark is not as scary as it seems. Special bonuses: we’ll look for some of Boulder’s rare FIREFLIES, listen to hunting bats, and participants who want to can try a night time solo walk! Bring flashlights just in case, but we shouldn’t need them.

Ages 6 and up. Special note to parents - sometimes it’s worth ignoring bed time, just once.

Where to meet: Meet at the Sawhill Ponds trailhead. From 75th St, turn west on the dirt road at about 0.6 miles miles north of Valmont Rd and travel about 0.4 miles to the trailhead. Directions and more here.
