Why fly to Belize or Costa Rica when their birds will come to us? Join naturalist Dave Sutherland for an easy hike into a local birding hot-spot to search for colorful migratory songbirds newly arrived from the steamy jungles south of the border. We will use Birds of Costa Rica as our guide book!
So, after the tropical migrants fly back to Costa Rica, do all our best birds leave? No way! Some of our most beautiful—and comical—residents stay here all year long. Six months after the Jungle Birds hike, join naturalist Dave Sutherland again to hike the same trail, for a winter bird watching expedition to meet the feathered marvels who brave the cold.
Can’t make these dates? Dave is offering the same pair of trips on June 10 and December 9, 2023 - see the separate listing here.
This trip is part of the Interludes with Nature field trip series. These trips are led by the area’s most knowledgeable birders and naturalists who take participants to places they wouldn’t often get to see. Monies raised by this important fundraising tool send our Teen Naturalists to birding camps.
