Explore the wonderful world of birds in a beautiful place! See live birds of prey up close and view birds in the wild through spotting scopes and binoculars. Learn about migration, marshes and the role avian friends play in our lives. Enjoy games, art projects and a scavenger hunt (with great door prizes!).
This year’s event explores the World Migratory Bird Day theme of “Protect Insects, Protect Birds.”

This free, public event, presented by Lafayette Open Space, will take place at Waneka Lake and Greenlee Wildlife Preserve Open Space in Lafayette. The starting location will be the Waneka Lake east parking lot where Emma St. ends at Caria Dr. Many entertaining and educational activities and exhibits from local organizations will be featured near that lot and along the 1/3 mile walking path to Greenlee Wildlife Preserve.
Fun and understanding will be on tap with exhibitors and activities that include: Environment for the Americas, The Butterfly Pavilion, Boulder County Audubon Society, Boulder County Nature Association, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (Barr Lake), DarkSky Colorado, Lafayette’s Arts and Cultural Resources Department, bird banding and many more!

This free, public event is suitable for all ages and will also feature an array of fine door prizes. It will begin at the Waneka Lake East parking lot, where Emma St. ends at Caria Dr. in Lafayette. Boulder County Audubon will have a table with interactive games and exciting information about local birds.

11.° “Celebremos la migración de las aves” Evento anual en el Lago Waneka en Lafayette

¡Explore el maravilloso mundo de las aves en un hermoso lugar! Vea aves rapaces vivas de cerca y observe aves en estado natural a través de telescopios y binoculares. Aprenda sobre la migración, las marismas y el papel que desempeñan las aves en nuestro mundo. Disfrute de juegos, proyectos de arte y un juego buscatesoros (¡con premios fantásticos!).
Este evento público gratuito, presentado por Lafayette Open Space, se llevará a cabo en Waneka Lake y Greenlee Wildlife Preserve Open Space en Lafayette. El lugar de inicio será el estacionamiento este del Lago Waneka, donde termina Emma St. en Caria Dr. Se presentarán muchas actividades y exhibiciones entretenidas y educativas de organizaciones locales cerca del estacionamiento y a lo largo del sendero de medio kilómetro hasta la Reserva de Vida Silvestre Greenlee.
