Happy new year, everyone,
We will start it out with a visit to one of Boulder County's favorites: Walden Ponds. Jim Fischer has kindly offered to lead us. He's a long-time birder with sightings in over 40 countries and a knowledgeable, fun guide.

At Walden we should see species of waterfowl, raptors, woodpeckers, icterids, sparrows, and others in the varied habitats. We will have loaner binoculars if you don't have your own. Please bring a scope if you have one.

After birding for a couple of hours, we'll head to Wild Provisions for some socializing and snacks provided by Boulder County Audubon Society. This brewery touts its Czech-style lagers and wild-fermented craft beers. We have reserved the private room for our group. Plan to purchase your own drinks.

Where to Meet
Birds: Meet at the Cottonwood Marsh trailhead at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat. Walden Ponds is just west of 75th St. between Valmont Rd. and Jay Rd. At the Walden Ponds sign on 75th St., turn west, follow the road as it curves to the south, and turn right into the Cottonwood Marsh parking lot. Maps and info about the area can be found here.

Brews: At Wild Provisions Beer Project 2209 Central Ave., corner of Flatiron Parkway and Central Ave., across from Upslope Brewing.
