Financial Committee Members Needed
BCAS’s Treasurer, Carol McCasland, has been in this role for 6 years. In May 2025, she will be term-limited.
BCAS is looking to form a Financial Committee now, led by the Treasurer, that would take care of BCAS’s financial responsibilities and needs. Ideally, the committee would nominate a new Treasurer for next year. Between now and next May, Carol would love to have a backup person to learn the role.
Responsibilities
The main duties of the Treasurer are as follows. With a Financial Committee, these tasks could be split between multiple people or completed cooperatively.
From BCAS Bylaws: The Treasurer shall have custody of the Society's funds and securities, shall see to the deposit and disbursement of all monies and securities as instructed by the Board of Directors, and shall submit a report of the financial condition at the annual meeting and at each Board meeting. The Treasurer maintains and updates all financial records using Quick Books and is also resource for Board or Committee members who have any questions about BCAS financial policies.
Files the necessary public records with the State of Colorado to maintain our non-profit status.
Files Tax Returns with the IRS.
Writes our grant application to SCFD.
Time Commitment
Carol estimates that all these activities take her about 10 hours per month.
The Treasurer role requires a successful background check.
