Mozart had a pet starling. Sibelius identified personally with swans. Beethoven, Handel and Vivaldi all wrote duets for nightingales and cuckoos, and Dvorak is said to have written the song of the Scarlet Tanager on his shirt cuff. Join naturalist Dave Sutherland at a bird watching hot spot at Walden Ponds to explore ways that composers of classical music have captured the essence of birds. Beautiful bird-themed musical selections and amazing bird viewing guaranteed.
Where and when to meet: Meet at 9:00 AM at the picnic shelter at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat. Park at the Cottonwood Marsh trailhead lot, just west of 75th St. between Valmont Rd. and Jay Rd. At the Walden Ponds sign on 75th, turn west, then follow the road as it curves to the south, and turn right into the parking lot at Cottonwood Marsh. More info about the area here.
