With a waxing gibbous moon for company, naturalist Dave Sutherland will lead you into the mysterious world of nocturnal animals. We’ll listen to hunting bats with a bat detector, look for fire files, and explore our senses in the darkness: hear like an owl, smell like a moth, feel with your whiskers and learn to see by moonlight. Find out why the dark is not as scary as it seems.

This activity-rich hike is especially suited to kids and families. Open to ages 6 and up.

Where to meet: Meet at the Sawhill Ponds trailhead. From 75th St, turn west on the dirt road at about 0.6 miles miles north of Valmont Rd and travel about 0.4 miles to the trailhead. Directions and more here.
