Crescent Meadows is a delightful combination of open meadow, brushy corridors, and conifer forest. Expect a good variety of foothills bird species, as well as the possibility for numerous butterflies. Plan to walk for about two miles with modest elevation gain; most of the walking will be on undeveloped trails with brief off-trail excursions. There are no restroom facilities in this part of the park. All experience levels are welcome, but this trip is especially aimed at those early in their birding journeys. Click on the eventbrite link above for more details.
Where to meet: Crescent Meadows Trailhead on Gross Dam Road. From the intersection of CO Hwy 93 and CO Hwy 72, travel west on Hwy 72 for 7.5 miles. Turn right onto Crescent Park Drive and continue for 1 mile. Turn right on Gross Dam Road and continue for 1.8 miles to the Crescent Meadows Trailhead parking area.
