Dave Sutherland, award-winning naturalist and formerly with Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, will lead us again. The Shanahan Ridge trails loop through one of the most beautiful parts of Open Space. The pine forests and tall grass prairie meadows are thick with late summer wildflowers and a haven for birds. The nesting season is over, but we may see fledged youngsters begging from parents. A variety of habitats provides many chances to see a variety of birds.

After birding, we will return once again to Under the Sun, 627A S. Broadway. It's become our favorite spot in south Boulder. BCAS will provide appetizers and you pay for your own drinks. Bring your own binoculars if you have them, and loaners will be available.

Where to meet: We will meet at 1903 Lehigh Street in Boulder; free parking is available along Lehigh and other neighborhood streets.
