Welcome to Boulder! One of the best parts of living here is the public Open Space land that surrounds our town - open for you to enjoy nature and the outdoors every day of the year. Community Naturalist Dave Sutherland worked for Open Space for nearly 25 years and will give you an insider’s guide to the best places to go while we hike to the base of the Second Flatiron. Take in lovely views plus a chance to see some of the area’s wildlife and learn about  the area’s biology, geology and history . We’ll meet at a "secret" back entrance into Chautauqua, a quiet neighborhood access point with plenty of free parking. This is moderately strenuous hike of 3 to 3.5 miles, 700’ elevation gain. Note: the trail will have steep, slick, icy patches. Strap-on traction for your boots, like Micro-spikes, IS REQUIRED. Strap-on boot traction is available at local outdoor stores.

Where to meet: Meeting location will be provided to registered participants.
