Join us for an evening exploration of the fascinating world of moths! Moths are every bit as beautiful as butterflies, with intricate patterns and stunning colors. They are extraordinarily diverse with sizes that range from tiny micros to the huge “hawk moths.” This is an opportunity for close-up views of some of Colorado’s night flying Lepidoptera. Pam will set up sheets and special lights to attract these animals for inspection and photography. We will start with a slide presentation overview of what distinguishes moths from butterflies and their importance to ecosystems. The moths will not start arriving at the sheets until it is quite dark, usually after 9 unless it is cloudy. As a bonus other Orders of insects are usually attracted to the lights presenting us with the opportunity to see various beetles, spiders, ant lions, frogs and bats.

There will be soft drinks and snacks available.

Digital cameras are available to borrow. Please request these while signing up for the trip.
