How do new scientific understandings of Earth as a living system intersect with cultural understandings, ancient and new?   What implications do new insights into our human relationship to Earth have as we grapple with our future?  In this presentation, Martin Ogle brings a 37-year career as a naturalist, Earth scientist and storyteller to bear in exploring these questions and applying them to the challenges of our day.

The title of this event is taken from a 2006 conference that Martin and colleagues organized at George Mason University in Arlington, VA.  This conference featured a wide variety of speakers including scientists, historians, those in the humanities and others.   In the presentation at the Lafayette Library, we will take a similar multi-disciplinary approach to understanding our relationship to Earth and how to address climate change, biodiversity loss, water shortages and more.

Musicians from the Boulder Philharmonic will lend their skill to blending the scientific concepts and metaphors we explore.

This program is presented by Lafayette Learns, and co-sponsored by Boulder County Audubon.
No RSVP is required. Contact Martin Ogle at Martin@EntrepreneurialEarth.com for more information.

Where to meet: This program will take place in the meeting room at the Lafayette Public Library.
